Ingrid K. Krohn (nee Potschka), 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in Paoli, PA. Born in Heydekrug, East Prussia, Germany in 1938, Ingrid and her family suffered through the ravages of World War II. The advancement of Russian forces in 1944 led to the capture of her father, Heinrich, who spent the next 9 years in a Russian POW camp before reuniting with his family in Mainz, Germany. Shortly thereafter, Ingrid met Private Nils Krohn while he was stationed at the US Army Base in Mainz. Ingrid and Nils married and eventually settled in Paoli.
A private remembrance and celebration of Ingrid’s life was held in her home and garden of 47 years with her favorite New Orleans jazz music playing in the background. She is survived by her sister Sabine, sons Jeffrey Nils and Eric Ivar, her daughter-in-laws, Michele and Nicole, and her five grandchildren Ethan, Sarah, Tyler, Chase and Kennedy. She will not only be remembered for her many talents, gardens and recipes but also for her greatest role as Nana. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bethesda Project for homeless men and women at www.bethesdaproject.org/give/
