Charles W. DiMaria, 90, of Blue Bell, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Born in Germantown, PA on May 3, 1927 to the late Giuseppi and Antonietta DiMaria, he was a guiding force in the lives of many, especially his family. He began working with his father in the family junk recycling business, served in the US Army during WWII, then went on to attend Temple University and achieve his dream to become a Mechanical Engineer. At GE, he specialized in robotics and designed automation for many projects, including the US Department of Defense Aegis Missile Defense System. He was an eternal optimist who raised his family to value education, be independent and have the power and confidence to follow our dreams. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Sarcone) DiMaria for 55 years.
He is survived by his children Karen DiMaria and Lori Steele (Bob Putnam). His treasures in life were his grandchildren, Terence and Kailen Mele, Jessie, Lexi and Sam Steele, and Avery Putnam.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 10:00am-12:00pm followed by a Service at 12:00pm. Kirk & Nice Funeral Home, located at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
